Remini Alternatives for iPhone: 6 Photo Enhancer Apps

ComparisonUpdated October 2026

Updated October 2026

The best Remini alternative depends on what you use Remini for. For free manual edits with no ads, Snapseed. For scanning a shoebox of prints and restoring them, Photomyne. For one-tap AI enhancement, Pixelup, PhotoApp or Unblur. For restoring and colorizing old photos in the same app as AI portraits and headshots, Jobim.

Remini, made by Bending Spoons, is still one of the most-used apps in the category: 4.61 stars from 356,916 US ratings as of October 2026. The reasons to look elsewhere are mostly about money and reliability, covered next.

We make Jobim, which is on this list. We have tried to place it where it fits, including where it is the wrong choice. Ratings, prices and features come from each app's App Store page as of October 2026. We did not run the same photos through every app, so this compares what the apps say they do and how they charge, not output quality.

Why people look for a Remini alternative

Remini is free to download, with a subscription for full use. The App Store page lists Remini Pro Weekly at $9.99 and Remini Lite Weekly at between $4.99 and $7.99. At $9.99 a week, four payments total $39.96.

One review roundup, from Unstar (published July 2026, updated August 2026), draws on both iOS App Store and Google Play reviews, so it is not iOS-specific, and groups Remini's negative reviews into heavy ads on the free tier, weekly billing that reviewers say continued after cancelling, errors that locked out paying users, and features removed mid-subscription. Its percentages are rough estimates, it is a commentary site rather than an audit, and we have not verified individual cases. Against that stand 356,916 US ratings that average 4.61.

Whatever app you pick, check the price on the paywall before you start a trial, and set a reminder to cancel before it ends. You manage subscriptions in iPhone Settings, under your name and then Subscriptions.

How we chose: iPhone apps whose App Store listing names enhancing, unblurring or restoring photos as a core feature, with a verifiable price model. Jobim has only 3 ratings because it is new, so its rating tells you nothing yet. Not to be confused with Jobim: PhotoApp - AI Photo Enhancer is a separate app from a different developer.

Snapseed: free, manual, no AI rebuild

Snapseed is Google's photo editor. Its listing says it has no subscriptions, purchases, ads or watermarks, and lists a Details tool, Healing for removing small blemishes, and non-destructive editing. It does not reconstruct faces. If Remini mostly gave you a quick sharpen, Snapseed may be enough. If you needed an AI to rebuild a blurry face, it will not do that.

Photomyne: for a stack of physical prints

Photomyne scans several printed photos at once and organizes them into albums. Its listing says restoration tools include sharpening blurry faces, colorizing black and white photos and auto-restoring faded colors, while removing scratches and tears uses optional AI tools paid for with AI credits. A membership is listed at $59.99 a year and the app offers a free trial.

It suits you if the hard part is digitizing the prints. It is less suited to enhancing a single photo that is already on your phone.

Pixelup: similar one-tap approach, more pricing options

Pixelup's listing covers enhancing, scratch removal, colorizing and animating photos. It has the widest range of price points on this list, including a lifetime purchase, which matters if weekly subscriptions are what you are trying to avoid. Its last update was in September 2025, so check that it still works with your iOS version.

PhotoApp - AI Photo Enhancer and Unblur: the closest matches

Both are one-tap enhancers in the same mould as Remini. PhotoApp lists weekly, yearly and lifetime options. Unblur's listing says the free version includes ads and lists weekly and yearly premium plans. For a pure like-for-like swap, these two are the nearest. Compare the paywall of each before the first photo, since plan names and prices change often.

Jobim: restore and colorize, plus portraits

Jobim, from Reno Labs, covers photo enhancing to unblur and sharpen, old photo restoration for scratches, tears and folds, colorizing black and white photos, background removal, and AI portraits and headshots in 50-plus styles. It fits if you want restoration and portraits in one app.

It is the wrong pick if you mainly need to scan stacks of prints (use Photomyne) or want a fully free editor (use Snapseed). It is also new, with 3 App Store ratings. On cost: new accounts get 3 starter credits, free exports carry a small Made with Jobim watermark, and a subscription removes it. The in-app paywall shows the current plans and whether a free trial applies.

How to switch from Remini without losing your photos

  1. Open Remini and save every result you want to keep to your Photos library before you cancel.
  2. Cancel in iPhone Settings: tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Remini.
  3. Install one or two alternatives and run the same two photos through each: one easy, one hard.
  4. Compare the results at full size, then check the paywall price before you subscribe.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best free alternative to Remini?

Snapseed is free with no ads or watermarks according to its listing, but it is a manual editor. Unblur offers a free tier with ads, and Jobim gives new accounts 3 starter credits, so you can test an AI result before paying.

Why is Remini so expensive?

Remini is sold by subscription, and the App Store lists Remini Pro Weekly at $9.99 as of October 2026. Several alternatives list lower weekly prices, yearly plans or one-time lifetime options.

Is there a Remini alternative without a subscription?

Snapseed has none. Pixelup and PhotoApp list lifetime purchases at $39.99, and Jobim sells credit packs as well as a subscription. Check each paywall, since prices change.

Do these apps work on photos taken a long time ago?

Yes, but results depend on the scan. Scan a print flat and glare-free first, or use Photomyne for scanning. AI cannot recover detail the photo never held.
